The Optic Stalk and Optic Cup

The Optic Stalk and Optic Cup

During embryonic development of the eye, the outer wall of the bulb of the optic vesicles becomes thickened and invaginated, and the bulb is thus converted into a cup, the optic cup.

This image of the optic stalk and cup indicates the telencephalon, edge of optic cup, choroidal fissure, arteria centralis retina, optic stalk, and thalamencephalon.
